If you weren't at WOW! on Saturday, you missed out! Over 80 6-8th grade girls and their parents attend our semi-annual outreach event. The children rotated through four activities: Lipgloss, Gum-Drop Bridges, Electrical Alarm, and Fun Physics. Feedback from the participants was very positive!

A new program was introduced at this WOW! event: a special Parent Program. Parents of the students attending the event joined together to learn about engineering basics, gender bias in math & science, what to expect in high school, and met with Amanda Thyne, a Georgia Tech Senior, to discuss what to expect for college. The parents also engaged in the same Gum-Drop Bridges activity that their daughters were participating in to encourage learning and discussion between the adults and children.

We would like to thank Beth White, our SWE volunteer who coordinate the event! This WOW! was certainly one of our most successful outreach events as we continue to learn from our previous events. We would also like to thank Georgia Power for allowing us to use their space for this event. Finally, a special thanks to all the volunteers that made this event possible. We hope to continue reaching out to young girls and helping them discover engineering!
